it might be nice if there was a #fediverse #app (such as #mastodon or #calkey or #frendica) that was geared towards personalized algorithmic #discoverability. You could select from open source algorithms to give you curated timelines with different properties. Others could contribute pluggable algorithms or you could mix-and-match.

Likewise, I'm interested in #Frendica - it looks like a potential good home for an online community in the Fediverse. But, how many people use and enjoy it?

I'm weighing the options for the future shift Round Table Writers will make to more fediverse-based platforms. Some of my current members are confused by Mastodon, or dislike the interface, and there's not a lot to be done about that right off the bat.

Whatever I introduce as RTWs main social media platform on the Fediverse should be something that's highly accessible.

@anthropoid Myślałem o #Frendica, ale jej ogromną wadą jest to, że nie jest w pełni kompatybilna z Mastodonem. Jednak na Mastodona powstało najwięcej poradników po polsku, najwięcej ludzi (spośród Fediwersum) może coś poradzić w razie potrzeby - a to ma kluczowe znaczenie, gdy mówimy o użytkownikach nietechnicznych. Musi być jak najniższy technologiczny próg wejścia. Na przykład, muszą być jak najłatwiejsze w obsłudze i jak najłatwiejsze do znalezienia aplikacje mobilne - w tym punkcie #Mastodon jest bezkonkurencyjny na tle całego #Fedi. @ojablkach

Let's say someone had hosted accounts on a variety of servers, like a #Mastodon, #Pixelfed, and a #Frendica account because he's not smart enough to host is own instance. Yet.

And let's say that totally hypothetical person registered HeyIts.me as a new domain, and wanted it to act as a pointer/splash page for those instances? Maybe pulling the recent posts at those places and displaying the data on the screen?

@manolo_ssa Yes! I honestly prefer the interaction style of Facebook to Twitter, which is probably why #Frendica was appealing. It just felt slightly more friction-ful (I hope that translates okay- full of friction?) than I wished it would be.

@manolo_ssa #Frendica feels SO CLOSE to what I want. (I love that it pops responses to things I’ve commented on to the top, it’s so much easier to follow threads!) But it also feels like it just isn’t really baked or done, unlike mastodon. I’m crossing my fingers that it gets a boost from all the influx of folks here.

I spent some of Thanksgiving dinner explaining Activity Pub (and Mastodon and Frendica) to non techies, so that was a fun experiment.

If folks could invest in #Frendica more, it feels like there’s interest. But it felt slightly too janky to actually recommend yet.

@n8chz hmm, sounds like maybe there's a base URL setting in there somewhere not configured right, but I'm not really sure. Sorry! There's probably a #frendica irc channel on libera that could help though
