I was never really a #twitter user I think by the time I even started an account #hashtags had basically become redundant, so I've been having a lot of fun messing with hashtags recently

There is a certain utility that twitter had compared to Facebook and reddit in terms of just shouting into a void on a central server which is very useful for following current events, so for example when the various #blm protests broke out you could see things going on in the streets in #furguson which was cool

Likewise there's a utility In having politicians and governments and corporstions on the site because you can see what bullshit theyre on or what embarrassing interests they have and on #TheFederation ya know, no one is gonna host the Russian or Saudi gov -- so just maybe #bluesky can serve that function

But see this shit has nothing to do with "social media" in the sense of making friends and having healthy communities, and such an environment is going to be inherently antagonistic because its full of evil fucked up people and institutions, twitter was always the worst people you can imagine

So IMO bluesky is never going to be a threat to the fediverse because its target audience are complete scumbags
