A of , with the zone of the Science Laboratory , , which was present as a visual aide in the Center. The is the white .
The central peak of the crater, known as both Mount Sharp and , is believed to hold many clues to the past of Mars.
The crater also holds features that may be evidence of being formed by flowing, liquid water.
Curiosity landed on August 6, 2012.

For those following the activities of Curiosity Rover in Gale crater, this looks like a 'before & after' sample drop. The 'Marker Band' sure played hard to get, but looks like the teams perseverance paid off.

Always a pleasure to request images with Curiosity's RMI imager! This photo was taken looking at the base of Chenapau butte, which is a large hill to Curiosity's east. We got a beautiful view of bedding structure!

This mosaic was collected on Sol 3746 (February 19, 2023)

The 'Marker Band' region of Mt Sharp is apparently home to some really cool 'Space Rocks'. Here's another strong candidate called 'Cana Dulce'. This image was captured by Curiosity rover's R-MastCam on sol 3735 and has been Bayer reconstructed. Image credits: NASA/JPL-Caltech/MSSS/fredk

Curiosity rover's latest workspace, imaged on mission sol 3733 after a drive North-northwest of ~92 meters (302 ft) to site 100/0.

This mosaic of six MastCam frames covers an area about 2 meters (6 feet) across. It shows details within the workspace accessible using the rover's robotic arm.

This mosaic was assembled from Bayer reconstructed images using MS-ICE.

Selected images from one of Curiosity Rover's science cameras (R-MastCam) form this small mosaic from sol 3732.
The frames were Bayer reconstructed before assembly. A larger panorama can hopefully be assembled once all of the images arrive from the rover.

This artistic scene was captured by the rover on November 16, 2021. Curiosity took two sets of composite images, one at 8:30 AM and the other at 4:10 PM local Mars time. The rover traveled to the side of ' , or , a mountain that forms the central peak of . There, mission team members captured the beauty of the natural landscape with Curiosity's navigation cameras.
