I really like Arcade Idea's stuff. Their latest piece on NES classic "Mike Tyson's Punch-Out" is no exception.

If you haven't kept up with Aaron Reed's 50 Years of Text Games project, the ebook is on sale now. There's some physical stock, too, but I don't know what that's like. There's a free chapter on A Mind Forever Voyaging if you want a taste.

Congrats to @brkeogh on the 10 year anniversary of his first #book!
"Killing Is Harmless" is a deep dive analysis of #2KGames and #Yager’s #SpecOpsTheLine, and explores how the game turns a reflexive lens back onto the genre of the military shooters to ask some hard questions around acts of violence in #VideoGames.

Ten years ago today I released my first #book Killing is Harmless about Yager's Spec Ops: The Line. It's probably fair to say it changed my life, and forms the foundations for everything I not do professionally--both in terms of how it analyses the game and in terms of what I now see as its major blindspots.
Look, it's nearly midnight and I just realised it's the anniversary and I quickly wrote a twitter thread about it so I'm going to crosspost just this once sorry: https://twitter.com/BRKeogh/status/1594682516748652544
You can still access the book for PWYW here: https://brkeogh.itch.io/killing-is-harmless
