Just heartbroken for a town I called home for several years. Such a complicated place, but my experience of it was always very welcoming and beautiful. I met my life partner there and her family and several close friends are still there.

And this is just such a damn shame. I am so tired of a country where one side stokes divisions and employs demagogic rhetoric to inflame feelings of alienation and violent impulse.

Colorado Springs is a "conservative" place in a lot of ways. And that doesn't have to mean this kind of senseless brutality, but it's not surprising when it happens, because NO WHERE will there be condemnation of violence by national RW voices, nor will they be held to account by institutional media.

And that's a choice. This is on them. This is because prominent people refuse to condemn hated and bigotry, and NYT etc refuse to make a point of it
