@linushagemann VPN ist eine Technologie, die nützlich ist, um sich in ein Intranet einer Organisation reinzuklinken, der man angehört. Besonders wenn man sich gerade woanders aufhält.

Ich würde nie ein VPN nutzen, dass ich nicht selbst betreibe oder eine Organisation, der ich angehöre.

Findige Geschäftemacher betreiben seit einigen Jahren VPN-Dienste. Die haben genau eine Daseinsberechtigung: #geofencing auszutricksen, also die Beschränkung von Diensten auf bestimmte Regionen. Man bekommt vom VPN-Anbieter eine IP-Adresse aus einer anderen Region.

Was mich wütend macht, sind VPN-Anbieter, die behaupten, ihr Dienst würde anonymisieren oder irgendwie die Privatsphäre seiner Kunden erhöhen. Dafür müsste der VPN-Anbieter vertrauenswürdiger als mein eigener ISP sein, und das ist er meist nicht.

Man kann #Tor und #VPN hintereinanderschalten, aber ob das was bringt, ist sehr umstritten. Die meisten dürften sich damit eher ins Knie schießen.

It feels as though it becomes clearer every day that the US government does not serve the USian people. Just as we and our data are the products of big tech companies, our government cares for us only to the extend that we are needed to work for the rich and powerful. Not only are they cyber-stalking teenagers to recruit them into an institution that serves private interests, they’re going to do it by paying a for-profit corporation, because what really matters is that more money goes to those who’re already rolling in it.

Lighting scenes are based on times and/or sunset/sunrise. Color temps as well, so cool white in mornings, and warmer whites around 30 minutes before sunset. Eventually, slow dimming to tell me to go to sleep, too.
