I've published this #OneHealth case study on an outbreak of a lethal strain of #Hantavirus in Patagonia, #Argentina, 2018/19.

It explains how the outbreak was contained in an isolated village of 2000 multi-ethnic and -cultural souls, despite the failure of a neoliberal government, led by M. Macri at the time, to prevent it.

Listening to yesterday's show now... When I was in Boy Scouts, we went hiking for a week in New Mexico (Philmont for those fellow Eagle Scouts). Came across an abandoned cabin without a door and stopped for lunch and a break from the sun in it. After eating we snooped around a bit and found the broken front door upside down in a room. Flipping it over we found the sign stapled to it "DANGER #HANTAVIRUS - KEEP OUT"... We were awful quiet for a while after leaving quickly without stirring up dust.

Hantavirus-Erkrankungen kommen in Baden-Württemberg in regional sehr unterschiedlicher Häufung vor. Hauptüberträger von Hantaviren ist die #Rötelmaus, die bevorzugt in Buchenwäldern lebt. Die übermittelten Fälle stammen überwiegend aus buchenwaldgeprägten Gebieten.

Erste #Hantavirus-Übertragung durch eine #Hausratte

Erstmals in #Deutschland wurde die Übertragung des #Seoulvirus auf den Menschen nachgewiesen. Eine junge Frau aus #Niedersachsen hatte sich bei ihrer als Haustier gehaltenen Ratte angesteckt. Mit akutem Nierenversagen musste sie intensivmedizinisch behandelt werden. Das Seoulvirus gehört zur Familie der Hantaviren und ist vorwiegend in #Asien verbreitet.
