It’s grading season so I gotta remind myself I also get to do neat stuff like floating a gopro up into the stratosphere on a bursting balloon. This was nearly 30km above Hickory Ridge, Arkansas a few years ago. Not lens-corrected

I’m super excited my team gets to participate in the Nationwide Eclipse Ballooning Project! Dozens of high altitude ballooning teams will launch balloons along the path of the 2023 & 2024 solar eclipses in the US.

Some will be looking at atmospheric dynamics with radiosondes, but we’ll be attempting to live-stream video of the moon’s shadow on Earth from the stratosphere.
