Reading Raewyn Connell's brilliant 1997 "Why is Classical Theory Classical" on the history of sociology, pointing out the disjuncture between the now-standard canon (Marx, Durkheim, Weber on modernity) and what sociology in the 19th and early 20th centuries thought it was doing (social evolution and metropole-colonies). Embarrassed I didn't find this article earlier and wondering how much of the critique laps over into Psychology and Economics. #IntellectualHistory #HistoryofSociology
