Seems to me the #toriesOut have two choices

- go down guns blazing by sunsetting all these rules without considering them -making them unelectable for a very long time

- stage an internal war between sane #brexiters and insane ones (there are no non-kippers left in the Tory Parrty) to delay this madness - THEN be seen as unelectable for a very long time

In this #culture, there is no room for an #elder, whether that be an elder #statesman, a #wise #sage, or honored elder. In this culture, you only have #value for your #productive life or #reproductive life. Before that and after that, you are a #burden and an unnecessary expense, a drain on #society. Since we have not cultivated a soil where #wisdom can flourish, we have instead a human desert, where the elders among us rise to #power as #ideologues, #demagogues, #fools, and #puerile #bullies.

@clintwatts I don't think you should feel pressured to say #Mastodon is "better." The #federated nature is (in my opinion) better than the #centralized/corporate nature of #Twitter, which we've seen is fragile in the face of #ideologues with enough money, but the #Fediverse is only as good as we make it.

Mastodon isn't a silver bullet, just like Twitter wasn't. At least with the Fediverse, if it sucks, it's our own fault, instead of being the fault of some silly billionaire.

Former presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard announced she's quitting the Democratic Party and asked fellow "common sense independent-minded Democrats to join" her.

The former congresswoman from #Hawaii took to #Twitter on Tuesday morning to make her announcement in a series of tweets, including a video.

"I can no longer remain in today's Democratic Party that is now under the complete #control of an #elitist_cabal of #warmongers driven by #cowardly_wokeness," Gabbard said "who #divide_us by #racializing every issue & #stoke anti-white #racism, actively work to #undermine our #God_given_freedoms, are … #hostile to people of #faith & #spirituality, #demonize the #police & #protect_criminals at the #expense of #law_abiding #Americans, believe in open borders, #weaponize the #national_security_state to go after political opponents, and above all, #dragging_us ever closer to #nuclear_war."

Gabbard continued: "I believe in a government that is of, #by, and #for_the_people.

Unfortunately, today's Democratic Party does not. Instead, it stands for a government of, by, and for the powerful #elite.

I'm calling on my fellow #common_sense #independent_minded Democrats to #join_me …. in #leaving the #Democratic_Party.

The former U.S. #Army_Reserve_officer then posted a video, the first episode of "The Tulsi Gabbard Show," in which she further explains why she's no longer a Democrat after 20 years in the party.

She concluded by saying, "I don't want to leave you feeling hopeless. Let's remember the #vision that our #Founding_Fathers had for this country. The ideals they set forth. I believe in a government that is of the people, by the people and for the people. Unfortunately, today's Democratic Party does not. Instead, they stand for a government of, by and for the powerful elite."

Gabbard served four terms in the U.S. House. She campaigned for president in 2020 before dropping out of the race and supporting President Joe Biden. However, she then became the only candidate with primary delegates not to be invited to the 2020 Democratic National Convention.
