In Cold Blood is a fictionalized account of a true life murder. In this situation the head of the household had bought a new insurance policy and paid with a check on the same day that the family was later murdered. The check for the policy had not cleared yet.

My own opinion here and why I think this is significant is that I am certain that today the insurance company would refuse to pay.

Underlined Text - I didn't know what to do. I called the manager of our office in Wichita. Told him how I had the check but hadn't put it through, and asked what was his advice? Well, it was a delicate situation. It appeared that legally we weren't obliged to pay. Bu morally - that was another matter. Naturally, we decided to do the moral thing.

Sad to hear that Robert Blake, the American actor, has passed. His film career began at the age of six and spanned seven decades. Unforgettable as Perry in Richard Brooks' 'In Cold Blood' (1967) and, his last film appearance, the insidious "Mystery Man" in 'Lost Highway' (1997), one of David Lynch's most terrifying characters.

Actor #RobertBlake has died from heart disease at the age of 89. Blake is best known as TV cop #Baretta, and as a cold-blooded killer in the 1967 classic #InColdBlood, but became infamous after being arrested, accused and acquitted of murdering his wife in cold blood. His most notable big-screen role is that of the co-murderer (with #ScottWilson) who's sent to the gallows in #RichardBrooks' #InColdBlood (1967), from #TrumanCapote's novel, itself based on actual events.

In real life, Blake was acquitted (in 2005) of his wife Bonnie Lee Bakley's #2001 murder.
