Last one for : Andy Warhol, Grevy’s Zebra, screenprint (signed & numbered edition of 150), 1983. One of ten prints from his Endangered Animals series. Grevy's Zebra (Equus grevyi) is still statused as Endangered on the IUCN Red List and is the most threatened of the three zebra species; it's also the largest living wild equid.

Resharing my favorite Morris Hirshfield painting from the recent American Folk Art Museum exhibition for : Zebra Family, 1942, oil on canvas.

PS - reminder that Hirshfield was a self-taught artist who didn't start painting until age 65...and then made amazing art like this!

Happy ! πŸ¦“ Here you can see our zebras demonstrating one of the reasons scientists believe they have their famous stripes: for camouflage! Zebras' stripes help them avoid predators by breaking up their outlines. t.co/aszQquP6EP

Happy ! Here's George Stubbs' 1763 painting of the 1st zebra seen in England, now in the Yale Center for British Art collection. He painted it so well we can even identify the subspecies - a rare Cape Mountain Zebra (Equus zebra zebra).
