De comics zie ik genoeg maar ik zie en hoor maar bar weinig praat erover, zelfs m'n ander-talige vrienden en kennissen lijken er niet naar te kijken.

Oorspronkelijk ben ik het gaan kijken voor de komedie maar na 4 afleveringen kijk ik het nu omdat het heel chill is. Een beetje het "iyashikei" effect heeft het voor mij.

The three slice of life #anime I'm currently watching alongside Tenten Kakumei and Mou Ippon is Non Non Biyori, Nichijou and Tamayura. Both Nichijou and Non Non Biyori are funny #animes! I like Tamayura for its #iyashikei vibes. But I'm wondering why Mou Ippon has a 6.8 rating on MAL, I think it at least deserves a 7!

Hi! I just finished Sound of the Sky. I like #iyashikei too- not bothered by the slower pace if something interesting is going on.

Now that The Makanai live-action version worked out so spectacularly, can we hope for @netflix to do more #Iyashikei adaptations? Super Cub or Yurukyan, please! Or Yokohama Shopping Log!

Flying Witch - 12 Episodes
It's one of the #Iyashikei (healing anime) shows. Makoto is a highschool-age witch-in-training who moves to a small town to stay with relatives, so she can complete her studies. The flashiest thing she can do is fly a broomstick, though she's most interested in potions, herbs and gardening. She visits a flying whale, a magical cafe, and meets the harbingers of Spring and Fall. It's a cute, relaxing story that'll give you a smile after each episode.

"Iyashikei is the Japanese word for healing. In a manga and anime context, it refers to a genre that evokes a “healing” feeling. The western equivalent would probably be an indulgent or “feel-good” series/film -- one you’d binge when having a bad day, or something you keep coming back to like comfort food. I just counted I watched at least 40 #anime series in 2022 alone, and that was not including titles that I haven't finished yet, such as Spy x Family second part and Gundam Witch from Mercury. There are also some 2022 titles I planned to watch but haven't had the opportunity yet, such as Bocchi the Rock and Black Rock Shooter reboot. Most of the titles I watched are #isekai and slice-of-life or #iyashikei ('heartwarming' anime), few are shounen. Not really a fan of shounen anymore now in my 30s.

Related to #Iyashikei, but with a somewhat more problematic origin, is the #SlowLifeFantasy.

I’m just playing some #FGO whilst I have iTunes shuffling my anime sound track.

And I do believe I owe the #ARIAtheANIMATION soundtrack an apology.

(Look sooner or later I’m going to do a live toot of the entire #ARIAtheANIMATION series. I’ve usually watched it at least once a year for over a decade now).

So even when ARIA strays, or tries to, into darker territory/ghost stories, I can never make myself believe it, the show is just too FLUFFY for it to work.

And yet…

In isolation, coming up on a random shuffle, the relevant track from the ARIA soundtrack actually IS creepy.

Young bright lady heads to the big city leaving behind friends and family, stumbles occasionally but gets by on making connections to new people and keeping connections with back home.

Characters aren't trying to Hot Gimmick anyone else, and hear each other out and respect their stances. That kind of #iyashikei

@Kiwipae It's pretty short- 2 episodes for Log, and 2 for Quiet Country Cafe.
It's got the same sort of #Iyashikei vibe as Girls Last Tour, but whatever happened, it doesn't seem to have been war.
I'll be interested to hear what you think of it.

In any case I still haven't seen the movie, just the first two seasons. I might have to buy the DVD, since the movie doesn't seem to be streaming where I can watch it.

If it doesn't get to dark on the drama #Given just might be the #Iyashikei (healing #anime) of the season for me. It looks amazing, the music is really good and so far it's mostly cute boys hanging out.
