The UK Reproducibility Network (UKRI) and #Jisc recently published a report on the essential role of #openresearch, professional, and technical support staff at universities. "Without a whole range of professional and technical staff in institutions, open research would be next to impossible...."
Worth noting too that our team member @KarenVeitch was a contributor to the report. 👍

Cheering to learn that a number of institutions have joined the #CORE membership programme (following #Jisc's decision to pull funding of critical open infrastructure). I'm hopeful that the institution I am employed by will be following suit soon...

@vtraag Lets hope UK #JISC follows suit - eh @michaeldwebb @preater - and please boost to other JISC-connected colleagues
My colleague at #Jisc, Helen Nicholson, looks at the present and future of automated voice transcriptions and how they might improve support for accessibility in education.
Just in case anyone has missed the latest update on the issues with #JiscMail:
We’re looking for someone to join our team at #jisc, helping universities and college make the most of AI to support learning and teaching.
The role title is AI Specialist - but the important thing is interest and understanding in the adoption of AI tools in education, so it’s not a data science role. #aied
My colleague Paul Bailey at #Jisc writes about the #Metaverse in the article below.
A controversial opener: 'Let’s be clear: the metaverse (however you define it) is decades away."
I'm not sure i agree, partly because we are terrible at predicting things that decades away, and partly because the way some people define it, it's very close! But a good conversation starter.
