Among them, I reconnected with the San Diego Buddhist Temple, where my grandfather was a member, and represented him with my brother at the hatsubon ceremony this past August. It wound up being profoundly meaningful.
In addition, works like Chenxing Han's Be the Refuge and Duncan Ryūken Williams's American Sutra are stitching together my understanding of our family history with #jodoshinshu tradition.

I don't necessarily want a community just for #jodoshinshu but I know enough about online communities to know you have to start somewhere and the more focus the better, the more existing trust structures the better. And...

My challenge is I'm distributed across some pretty distinct communities... #gamedev, #research, #machinelearning, #responsibleai, #buddhism, #jodoshinshu, #sfbay, #indieweb, #community, #gamedesign, #ux, #parenting, #gardening -- that's probably not even exhaustive. So picking a server is nontrivial & so is this question of identity management. I'm willing to invest a fair bit to get it right, but it's going to take some doing to figure out.
