I like to think that New Year's Day can set the tone for the rest of the year. For 2023 I want peace, ease, nature, good, simple, locally-produced, homemade food, connection with the humans and animals around me, less suffering and more healing for all the beings and the planet, less facism and hate, fewer asshole billionaires, and more indictments and accountability. Pictures from a quiet and lovely New Year's Day. An easy walk with the dog at a local beach, followed by a small gathering of friends and neighbors, and then dinner of black-eyed peas, collards, local sausage and homemade sauerkraut.

Seeing everyone's #NewYearsEve #food posts inspires me to share our steakhouse-inspired indulgence from the upper left coast. Rib-eyes with sauteed mushrooms, creamed spinach, sweet potato fries, and a salad with blue cheese dressing. Our favorite #SmithStory Cabernet Franc and panna cotta for dessert. Happy, satisfied, and ready for slightly lighter fare in the days to come. The dog is Noce waiting for her cut. Happy New Year and may this next year bring ease to those who have had a rough 2022.
