The statue of Dolores Ibarruri (born 1895 died 1989) on Clyde Street in Glasgow. Also know as La Pasionaria, she was a hero of the Spanish Civil war. The statue commemorates the 2,100 British members of the International Bridage who joined the struggle against fascism in the late 1930s. Ibarruri is the only non-British woman to be honoured with a statue in Glasgow.

Isidora Dolores Ibárruri Gómez known as "La Pasionaria" was a Spanish Republican fighter of the Spanish Civil War and a communist politician of Basque origin, known for her famous slogan ¡No Pasarán!.

This is a famous speech of her from Paris 1971 - reworked by Manja Ristić for Amplify 2020, a quarantine Festival initiated by John Abbey.

The statue on the top is a stylised representation of Dolores Ibarruri, who died in 1989, who was known as 'La Pasionaria' because of her rousing speeches against fascism. The most famous of these was her "No pasaran" ("they shall not pass") speech in 1936.

La Pasionaria, Clyde Street, Glasgow. Erected in 1979, this is a memorial to the members of the International Brigade who travelled to Spain in the 1930s to fight against fascism in the Spanish Civil War.

Below the statue, it says "It is better to die on your feet than live forever on your knees", something we do with remembering even to this day.
