I kinda want a laser engraver now after looking at the Elegoo Phecda Kickstarter... :blobcat3c: Haven't thought about them before... Would be a cool thing to have in addition to a 3D printer. My wife could use it as well for some projects.

I need to do some research on them when I have money for one, hehe

The built-in functionality on my Mega Pro needs BMP files to print. I need to do some analysis on the test files that *do* print because I've now tried about four different ways of setting up my own files for printing and none of them have worked - I just get a continuous low-powered beam instead of actually engraving. To the computer!

I made a nerd clock today. Base-5 numbers. The big circles equal five, small circles equal one. I inlaid the circles and laser cut the hands. The second hand came with the clock movement.

I spent the day learning more about Inkscape; particularly how to convert a bitmap image to a usable svg format. Laser cutters aren't too fond of bitmap images. They're just too pixelated.
Anyway, I had some good success!

Excited to keep playing with the laser engraver on my Mega Pro. I found some 8" square art boards at the dollar store and whipped up some art for them. I love this little maxim; it was something said to me at a young age and I've carried it with me since. Once I have the enclosure & ventilation set up I'll start carving. This feels good. Line work in , textures from Pexels and applied in .

Just dinking around with my laser today. I wanted to see how QR codes would work on wood. Worked great! One takes you to an Alanis Morissette video on YouTube. The other takes you to my sadly neglected website.
