One episode of #LastTangoInHalifax left to go. It's no longer what it was, but then it was only really about the two families being brought together by a romance rekindled after 60 years for the first series and a bit of the second. It’s been a story about people planning their weddings for longer than that, skirting into the completely relatable issues of “What if your long lost son was a millionaire?” and “What if your ex’s alcoholic partner was JK Rowling?”.
Finished watching series 3 of #LastTangoInHalifax Christmas special from 2016 and final series to go
Roaring into S3 of #LastTangoInHalifax now and spoiler has happened, in an episode brilliantly structured to look like it was about a drunken faux pas. But it does feel like Wainwright has made some of the characters go too far to believably come back, even with spoiler to unite them again.

This FT article is a good introduction to Sally Wainwright. I totally agree with her about the beauty of writing that is grounded in a place, rather than bland & generic to make it easier to market. https://www.ft.com/content/7792625d-ff25-45c2-818a-3a797eb3beed #SallyWainwright #HappyValley #GentlemanJack #LastTangoInHalifax #Yorkshire #NorthernEngland #TVdrama

Decided to rewatch #LastTangoInHalifax as I was in a Sally Wainwright frame of mind
With Happy Valley only releasing weekly I felt like I needed more Sarah Lancashire, so I've started #LastTangoInHalifax. I avoided it at the time because it looked a bit saccharine and I didn't know Sally Wainwright's work yet. As you probably all knew long before me, it is sweet, romantic and dramatic as hell, as you'd expect.
