Some occupations are physically too much for aging bodies. Some are too stressful & demanding. There needs to be more opportunities for older workers to instruct, mentor & support, & part time if wanted, so as not to waste their knowledge & skills. We know graduate teachers generally receive too little support. Imagine if a well matched & enthusiastic older teacher was matched with graduate teachers to work a day or 2 a week, planning, modelling teaching etc if & when required. Few teachers work beyond 60, not because they’re wealthy, but because they’re burnt out. Expecting older workers to delay retirement & not offering them suitable work is not okay. #LaterRetirement #OlderWorkers
