Pantophthalmus vittatus (Pantophthalmidae) - the larvae are wood feeders, feeding in the excavated tunnels of dead & living trees , on organic matter &/or its fermentation

The adults - although looking like horseflies - dont feed at all! #collections #specimens #flies #nature #diptera
