This is a #koru (spiral) of a #Mamaku / #BlackTreeFern. It will eventually unfurl to create a branch, upon which more koru will form, then unfurl to make the leaves. It’s an amazing process! #Zealandia #

Never really got the New Zealand/Aotearoa obsession of some of my friends and I do wonder why. All I want after reading this book is going there and marvel at the #Ferns. Twenty meter high #mamaku?? (#Treeferns) Forests covered in moss and tiny edible fern fronds? Need to read more about it because I don't see myself flying this far anytime soon.
But I'll dream of #panako and #ponga...
