Fabulous. Never had an account with Medibank or AHM but still caught up in the data breach anyway thanks to an ex boyfriend from a literal decade ago adding me as a contact to his policy.

That explains the increase in spam and phishing I’ve had recently.

#medibank all of the stolen data has been published on a mirror site on the dark web by the hackers. I have read that the data is being offered for sale on dark web. Can someone explain if it has already been leaked by the hackers how can it also be for sale when the hackers have made data freely available on their mirror site?

And so they should! These data breaches are the result of sloppy and/or lazy application of basic security measures that are relatively easily to implement. My PayPal account has more security than Medibank applied!

I presume that a lot of the #Medibank data now online is fake.

I'd assume that once an insurer knew that their customers' data was online, they'd create a few terabytes of fake data so that nobody would know what's real.

It'd devalue any accurate data that hackers had stolen.
