Famous Doncastrians: Fred and Annice Green
Fred Green was a well-known butcher from Mexborough, and along with his wife Ann, left an amazing legacy to the hospitals he had supported during his lifetime - over £11 million. Despite their wealth, they suffered tragedy - Fred's younger brother, Harry, died in a motorbike accident in 1924. Then in 1942 his only child, Alan, died on New Year's Eve when his bicycle was hit by a bus. #mexborough #genealogy #familyhistory #doncaster
