My man Bunuel delivers the goods in EL (’53). While more narrative-driven than his later, famous works, it’s still got those unique Bunuel touches. Look no further than the opening scene. A great - and at times bonkers - thriller with Delia Garces leaving her fiancée for Arturo de Cordova, and whoops, he’s not nearly as nice or stable as he was cracked up to be. Ending justifies its renown, but many other memorable moments too- including one at top of a bell tower, pre-VERTIGO. #mexicanfilm
