After some wailing and gnashing of teeth at #Microcenter I was able to get a Raspberry Pi400 system. Now to get a micro HDMI to HDMI adapter.

@protofoxriley - did you notice a “scratching” when removing the nano SD card? It appears to eject smoothly but when you pull it out there’s some resistance like it’s hitting the circuit board. Not sure if that’s a big deal or not - but I’ll be gentle.

#Pittsburgh people - are there any computer and electronics stores (similar to #Microcenter ) in town? Especially if there are any on the North side of Pittsburgh.

@destrow managed to find a pretty sweet deal on a couple server chassis, so now I get to have the fun of configuring #Proxmox onto them to add to our Veracious Network cluster. I'm still undecided on how much memory I want to load up, (they support 3TB each), but right now I'm contemplating the storage.

We picked up some cheap 1TB drives from #Microcenter which I'll be loading in (configured in 2x raid-5, or raid-10.... whatever it's called), but was curious about what other folks in the community do for your #SMB / #Homelab hypervisors.

Do you add all the storage into the system partition to have one giant '/' mount, or do you add a second storage pool of dedicated disks separate from the OS?

Historically I've kept them separate, but Proxmox sets up a 'Local' pool on the system partition by default, which got me wondering if I'm just making it unnecessarily complicated. (Though I still think having a separate data pool makes disaster recovery easier.)

I have, at long last, finally gotten to visit a #MicroCenter store. It's pretty cool, basically like a combo of Radio Shack and Best Buy. Genuinely surprised that they had stuff like Retrons in stock too.

My knock off ROS (Robotic Operating System) for autonomous vehicles using a #RaspberryPi.

#Docker containers for each sub system (motors, camera, sonar, image processing, video feed output, IPC, Controller). Docker-compose as the process manager.

IPC by way of MQTT. Image processing involves object detection assisted by #GoogleCoral & Gstreamer for video feed.

We need it - been near 90F for the last few days, and two weeks or so since it rained, but there was literally no rain in the forecast until like Tuesday. This is Ohio, not Arizona, so 90F and no rain in May / June is not exactly typical.

Finally discovered why I've not been able to burn any dvds for the last month or two:

kernel module sg was not getting loaded. Not sure what happened, but modprobe'd sg and #K3B started working again.

Good news, because want to use a #SystemRescue CD newer than summer 2021.

(I really should just get a 1GB usb drive at #MicroCenter for this stuff, but I have sooo many blank DVDs left from the 2000's.)
