You could treat a prophecy as a subtle artifact. Give it a depletion rate, a fixed effect and a level. The character (or group, for a group prophecy) could invoke it as a subtle cypher (it doesn't count as a subtle cypher). If it depletes, the prophecy is broken - at least as an artifact. Someone powerful enough could break a prophecy without the conditions being fulfilled, destroying it.

This ties into the whole "Anything can have a level idea"

I'm starting my Stars are Fire Cypher group with a secret that can - and will - literally destroy empires and the entire known civilized universe.

So, with my Cypher space game getting strong player buy in, and with session 0 being tomorrow, I've been "studying" all week.
Nope, I'm not world designing, studying rules, etc. I'm looking up Session 0 prep sheets, advice for designing from character strengths, and how to get a campaign off to a strong, solid start. That's the bedrock. The other stuff comes later.

I'm finally getting my space cypher system game started. And the players I've found are creeping me out (in a good way). It's a full four days before session 0 and they are all chatting away in a long ass thread about character concepts, ideas, and what they want to see. This hasn't happened in decades.

Just arrived from #MonteCookGames, in time to read it before school gets out for the summer. I may get a little resistance from the 8 year old since it's a #TTRPG vs a video game, but I'm hoping the presentation wins him over.

Fellow #Kickstarter backers for the latest #CypherSystem campaign: be VERY careful when redeeming your rewards today. In fact, you may want to hold off. The #MonteCookGames website is having a meltdown, and I had to struggle through repeated Cloudflare and PayPal timeouts.

When all was said and done, I was missing my PDF copy of the Cypher System Rulebook, and I was double-billed for my physical rewards, once with coupons and once without.

Seriously, I'd wait. I'm still sorting this out.

For anyone using https://cyphersrd.quest , I am aware of the recent SRD update but I am on vacation until late week of May/June, so I won't be able to update it until then.

It's open source though, so if anyone feels like contributing, you can run the pandoc commands on the new SRD and old SRD, compare to find what's new, and open a PR, I will review and approve.

Otherwise, I'll get to it later.

Reading over Monte Cook's "Cypher System" is a study in "Why the HELL didn't I think of that??" moments. I literally feel like this is the last rpg rules system I'll ever use.
