Moonlight cactus flower series
I’ve processed some more of the macro shots from the other day. The focus stacking wasn’t as successful as I’d hoped, but the extravagant forest of stamens and the flower-like stigma are captured. Also a heavily pollen-laden bee.

Here are two establishing shots for the cactus flower, safety shots from my iPhone while #Dogwalking. The first shows the cactus plant, an epiphyte, growing up the trunk and branches of a host tree, which is almost invisible. The shot is from below, looking up the trunk and at a branch.
The second shot shows a group of flowers in profile, showing their shape and size, and the form of the cactus stems.

Moonlight cactus flower, with bee
I could cheat and also call this a #Dogwalking miscellany shot, but in truth I took a bunch of safety shots with my iPhone and then returned with my D700 and 90mm macro. This is from the macro series. I’ll post some more of the whole plant and flowers, it’s quite spectacular.
