A cracking night out last night thanks to Kenton Cool and Arran Mountain Festival, hearing the Everest Untold story. Loved the tale of Yuichiro Muira's ski down from the South Col, ⛷️ and the fascinating details of the early expeditions 🏔. The first adventurers on the mountain were absolutely nails. 🧗‍♀️. Three hillwalkers have been found dead on a mountain ridge in Scotland after they failed to return from a hike.

Emergency crews and rescue teams were called to the Aonach Eagach ridge in Glencoe shortly after 9pm on Saturday night.

The Aonach Eagach ridge has gained a reputation as the narrowest on mainland Britain.

As one of our quieter months, January is the perfect time to work on some of the basics of #mountainrescue .

Today we hosted a training morning with Rescue 936 for rescue team members throughout North Wales.

Training in a comfortable environment like this is invaluable for our volunteers, who frequently work with the aircraft in poor weather and difficult terrain.

Just in from a really interesting mountain rescue exercise. We normally train in daylight, but callouts frequently happen at night, especially at this time of year. This scenario involved locating and recovering two injured casualties on steep ground in a remote part of the Northern Hills on Arran. Really good to practice all our skills in the dark. Flipping windy too but thankfully the rain/hail mostly held off.

A fun exercise with the team today. Bit of a navigation exercise with small groups heading across the island collecting checkpoints. I'm full of the cold so my team were full of patience waiting for me to catch up. 😮‍💨 I taught them how to truly appreciate contouring 😆. (Direct "down-up" approach not working for me today. 😬)
