#NewsieSocial is perhaps a more useful example than Gab. Perhaps I'm wrong, but it seems the sanctions were eased after Newsmax was thrown to the wolves.

But there's still plenty wrong at newsie.social. The owner refuses to moderate anti-trans bigotry as long as it is "respectful and in good faith."

If you're a "reputable news organization" and you don't run your own #Fediverse server but rely on a grifter's grift to be here, you totally deserve those quotes.

sunny.garden has limited newsie.social as it currently hosts @NEWSMAX a far-right american media outlet, and will consider increasing this to a suspension in the future if newsie.social demonstrates a willingness to continue platforming far-right and transphobic media, against its own stated commitment to the Mastodon Server Covenant: "Active moderation against racism, sexism, homophobia and transphobia"

In the meantime, I would highly encourage media outlets such as @ProPublica to migrate to their own independent fediverse instances with all due haste, where they will have greater control over their presence on the fediverse, and avoid "both-sides" entanglement with other organizations which do not share their values.

I'm unable to look up toots or users of newsie.social from masto.ai (while logged in). Can someone confirm? Any idea why?

In the other direction, I CAN look up users of masto from newsie (not logged in).

* Neither lists their modded hosts.

* Having spot checked to/from several instances. I gather it's typical to require login for toot searches. Which limits my troubleshooting.
