1929 - The Bruins swept the Habs and the Rangers swept the Maple Leafs. (Before league expansion, the merger with the WHL, and the existence Conferences, the Semi-Final was the round before the Cup final). 1929 was the first ever NHL Final between two US teams. Boston won their first Stanley Cup, sweeping the defending champion NY Rangers

1972 - The Bruins swept the #STLBlues and the NY Rangers swept the Chicago Blackhawks to set up a rematch of 1929's Final. Boston won that Final in six games.

1992 - This time the Bruins would be on the losing end of a sweep in the Eastern Conference Final, losing to the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Chicago Blackhawks swept the Red Wings, then swept the Edmonton Oilers in the WCF. #66 and the Pens captured their second Cup with another sweep, downing the Hawks in the Final.

It was also a good afternoon, as we spent it curled up on the couch watching an excellent #NHLBruins game on the big screen. Add in some dogs and some cats and it was a real family affair. The Bruins did their part by putting in a real yeoman's effort to put down the #NHLRangers, 4-2. It was a great way to spend a cold gray sleety winter's day. We didn't get much snow from this event. The news said 2-4 inches, but all we had was like an inch of slushy mess on the ground. #today

Patrick Kane to the Rangers - wow - NYR going all in for a Cup in 2023. My prediction - it backfires. But I give em credit for going for it in a very very competitive Eastern Conference. Some really good teams will bow out of the playoffs at the end of Round 1.

One of the things I actively liked about Twitter was the ingame snarking about baseball and hockey games. Of course, there's less of it now (waves hads at the maybe exodus), but I haven't stumbled on it here on Mastodon, despite searching obvious hashtags for my favorite team. On the other hand, if I were a Jets fan, well there actually seems to be some discussion. Go figure!
