The US has decreased per capita carbon emissions more than Canada (because Americans started with many coal power plants and they've been replacing them with lower-emitting natural gas). See https://ourworldindata.org/co2/country/canada?country=~CAN

OTOH, Canada has had a national carbon tax since 2019, so there's at least one key #ClimateChange policy lever.

@msh Looking at #OurWorldInData , I see that, as of the end of August, Sweden had 1141 per 1M cumulative excess deaths, and Canada had 800. That is to say, Canada's rate was about 70% that of Sweden's (vs. 67% by the cumulative #covid19 deaths from the website you sent).

Darum hab ich letztens durchgerechnet, was denn überhaupt global übrig und darum zukaufbar wäre.

Welt-Durchschnitt war 5t pro Kopf in 2019 5t. Wie wir wissen, muss das bis 2030 halbiert worden sein.
Also 2.5t.
Nun muss man gucken, wieviele Menschen nicht nur unter 2.5t leben, sondern unter 2.2t. Denn diese ärmeren Staaten brauchen ja noch Infrastruktur zu Armutsbekämpfung und Fluchtvermeidung. Pro Kopf geschätzt bis 2030 eine Erhöhung um 0.3t / Jahr.

Wenn man die Daten aus #OurWorldInData passend zusammen setzte, ergibt sich,
dass ab 2030 für jeden, der 2019 nicht unter 2.5t war, 0.17t übrig bleiben werden, die er sich dazu kaufen könnte.
Also quasi nix.

Fazit: jeder Deutsche, reich und arm, muss bis 2030 auf 2.5t sein. Dazukaufen geht nicht.

The 2020 #EPI score and rankings tabulation show that among #ASEAN nations only #Singapore and #Malaysia have effective #wastemanagement systems w/scores of 99.6 and 81.4, respectively. 8 other nations in the region score from below 50 to 0. What's peculiar is that according to #ourworldindata Malaysia's per capita rate of mismgnd. #plasticswaste is among the highest in #SEAsia (~60X that of the #LionCity nationstate) which doesn't exactly jibe w/an overall system of effective #solidwaste mgmnt.
