#PoppyDay I think that a lot of the problems surrounding what could be termed as 'poppy fascism' stem from widening the scope beyond WW1 and WW2.

I think subsequent conflicts and those who served in those should have a separate day altogether.

The act of remembrance on November 11 has little to do with neoliberal adventures in Iraq etc.

My Granda's family lost two (one at the Somme, the other in Belgium). My Granny's family lost one (also at the Somme). Granda's family never got over their loss and my Granda mourned his Great Uncle's like he'd lost them in his lifetime.Before he died he would go to services even when he was very ill.

In the letter to my Great Aunt, the Minister says my family died for a noble cause. It must have comforted my family. I think they died in a pointless slaughter and war.
