This is how toxic the legacy media outlets have become in Canada.
On the surface, it looks like something one would see in an authoritarian state. But this is entirely the doing of unrestrained, out of control media/telecom corporations and decades of subservient government.
Don't worry, a lot of it is owned by US hedge funds.

I think it goes at the #problem ass-backwards. The competition watchdog is at the wrong place in the workflow to accomplish much. By the time a #deal is announced, it's essentially too late for a #regulator to have a meaningful impact on things.
(Very) occasionally it'll block a #merger or #acquisition, but that's reactive at best.
We need a pro-active approach.

The RCMP had to fact check it for em before they altered it. Why do we not have some sort of independent ethics watchdog for journalism in Canada?
