Provided that it's intentionally possible to ask for the login-keyring of another user then the core issue might just be docker accessing the keyring of the wrong user. A docker bug.

You can't just change the PW of the login-keyring. There is a special dialog to re-create it, with empty password. You are supposed to change it afterwards and the menu item is no longer grayed out, about half the time. When you click "change password" nothing happens.

How often have I heard that Linux is just some hobbyist crap?

Well, I spent the afternoon trying and failing to get the OSX keyring and docker to interact.

Docker tries to access a keyring called "Login", but it doesn't accept my password for said keyring. It does however accept the password of a former user of this machine, while my, not his, account is logged in.

I don't know for certain whether the OSX keyring or docker is buggy.
Probably both.
