Question about Threads-Instagram:
Short version: what does anyone here know about using Threads if you have 2 Instagram accounts?
Long version: a non-profit I volunteer at has a pretty good, but dispresed social media presence. A different volunteer handles each account. I cranked up #Instagram for them, so I post to it. We copy and repost each other's posts kind of haphazardly.
Now the volunteer board member who sort of oversees tech matters for the #museum is suggesting we jump on the #Threads bandwagon (partly because related organizations already have). And he has suggested that since I run the Instagram account, I should spin up a Threads account.
But I'm concerned about the #privacy policy, about how easily I could some time hand the museum's account off to someone else, and about what sort of confusion will arise from also having a personal Instagram on my phone to keep in touch with some family members. I'm right, aren't I, that Threads could ingest everything from my phone if I log on, that it won't differentiate between me being me and me being the Museum? Even disciplining myself to split activities onto two different devices (personal only on the phone, and Museum only on my laptop) won't help, right, because Threads will know only that there's more personal data to vacuum up?
Would be nice if the Museum's #Facebook person could sign up for Threads through FB. But I'm very ready to turn the IG account to somemone else. Is that my path forward? To do that and let someone else post the pretty pictures? Because (am I right?) if I would then log on to the Museum's IG, Mr Zuck would know that account was a Threads-connected account and turn on the Electrolux.
Yes, the Museum should have an account here in the Fediverse, but most of our supporters (and those related organizations I mentioned) will likely move from Twit-land to Thread-stead, so we need to be there.
