Yet another tree found in the Amazon coast mangrove forests: Rhizophora racemosa G.Mey. occurs where the influence of river water dominates, e. g., along the shores of Marajó Bay. In contrast to the similar, more common R. mangle, inflorescences axes show several levels of ramification (vs. 1-2), the flower buds are oval (not pointy), fruits are rather pear- (not cone-)shaped and the propagules they develop are much longer. #mangroves #Rhizophoraceae #Amazonas #trees #botany #wetlands #Marajó
