#onthisdate in 1850, Mother Frances Xavier #Cabrini was born in #lombardy. Working primarily in the #usa she established over 60 #missionary #institutions throughout the #world. She died in 1917. Her #remains were moved several times during her cause for #sainthood. Today in 1771, Marie-Marguerite d'Youville died. Born in Varennes, New France, she was the co-founder of the Grey Nuns of Montreal after her husband died.
In 1990, she was canonized by Pope John Paul II, becoming the first native-born Canadian elevated to sainthood.
