I don't know how #SanAntonioFC keeps getting results like this. So many injuries, so shallow in substitutions. 3 wins and a draw. If this team can get healthy by season's end, they'll be contenders again.

#SanAntonioFC has a soccer-specific stadium with over 8000 seats, and regularly fields competitive squads. We get great in-state rivalries with El Paso and the Rio Grande Valley. Tickets are affordable. There's tons of fan support in other underserved markets like New Mexico and Louisville, as well as bigger markets like Phoenix and Detroit.

Rather than get lost in the anonymous shuffle of MLS, SA gets to stand out in the USL.

In a classic ADHD way, I've adopted #USLChampionship as my special interest and become obsessed. I've ideas to share with no venue other than this one.

1. #SanAntonioFC isn't a realistic candidate to move to #MLS because of #AustinFC, and the possibility of joining #LigaMX is even more remote. The future of soccer in SA lies in #USL for the foreseeable future. This used to bum me out, but the more I think about the growth of soccer in the US, the more excited I am about SA's place in the USL.

Went to Match #1 as a season ticket member and had a blast. I'm in a section nestled up by a corner flag, and we're right on top of the action. I'm surrounded by other season ticket members, and we got along pretty quickly.

It was a "sold out" crowd (attendance figures were about 100 seats shy of the stadium's capacity, so it's close enough I guess.) An exciting match with a bicycle kick AND a center circle strike (both by Batista).

Appreciating this insight from Danielle Gawronski about women's soccer in Texas. I yearn for the day when #SanAntonioFC gets a women's side which would likely fit within the #USL's #SuperLeague. There is a San Antonio Stars-sized hole in our city's sports landscape.

I missed this news last week, but #SanAntonioFC added Azocar on loan who played last year at #OaklandRootsSC. Defense/GK look like they'll be just as strong as last year, though I worry about their attack right now. Their best forwards in 2022 (Sam Adenarin, Patiño) are still at large. Adenarin was a loan from #SeattleSounders so I'm not confident he'll be back in 2023.
