12. A game that changed your perspective about ttrpgs
The Quiet Year. No GM, no PCs, turn based, a main mechanic is drawing a map, centers community dynamics, based on answering prompts. Trad people like to say it isn't a TTRPG. And frankly: I don't care. It's the kind of game I like. Bring me moar!
12. Game that changed my perspective on RPGs.
#Wanderhome was an interesting one to read. The diceless system is so much different than others I'm familiar with and the setting just bleeds through every word of text.
Certainly changed the idea that randomness is necessary for tension and stakes.
#SeptembeRPG (5) A personal change you felt in your games this year:
I decided to give it a try to run #TTRPGs online using only text, dice rollers and simple character sheets, no graphical VTT or anything.
It has some gameplay disadvantages compared to face 2 face play or even VTT with cam and voice; but as some people have very legit reasons to not want to use voice or video online, I've been able to introduce several people into TTRPGs who never were able to play before.
#SeptembeRPG 6. That game you really want to play but can't seem to find the right group or time for
So many games! I like much too many games for the time I have.
Right now, I'd like to play Werewolf, The One Ring, Thirsty Sword Lesbian, City of Mist, Primetime Adventures 2nd ed., Chroniques de l'étrange, Masks, Nuit, Dominion, Factotums, MeGa ⨯ Cortex, Stonetop, Yazeba's B&B, Vampire v5, Flotsam, diverses homemade games…
Ask me tonight or tomorrow and I'll give a different list.
#SeptembeRPG 5. A personal change you felt in your games in the passing year
My oldest son started GMing for me and a friend and it's AWESOME! His own world, rules. It's fresh, rich (he's been gming it for his friends for months). I'm so eager to play again!
#SeptembeRPG 4. A TTRPG designer you can't wait to play more games from
There are creators I'm curious to see what they'll do next, but that's no guarantee that I'll like those games. I simply keep an eye out for their work.
I need to know the pitch, check out reviews or interviews, then read at least an intro or a quickstart, before becoming eager to play.
However, if I've played with a designer before, this includes every GM, and enjoyed it, I can jum from pitch to hyped instantly.

12. A game that changed your perspective about #TTRPG
I would say #MonsterOfTheWeek
That game was my first step into the #PBTA world. And boy I was ... perplexed? At first. Then I saw how it helped the GM with a low-preparation effort and a shared world-building during game.
That game also showed me that I could write things for TTRPG, and that people could like them.
This game has a special place in my heart for opening those two doors.

11. Game you love that needs a new edition.
It badly needs a new edition that looks backwards for inspiration because Catalyst hasn't been the best steward of the IP. I like the way limits make gear matter in 5e but other things just didn't work and 6e has flat out copy pasted rules that refer to things that don't exist anymore.
So a good 7e would be awesome.
10. Mashup of games done or thought of?
In the first game I ever GMed, I used #SwordsAndWizardry because a version was free and I'd been reading about the #OSR. That I was using a BX retroclone did not stop me from grabbing bits from #GURPS or #DND35 or #NewWorldOfDarkness any of the other systems I could find books for at Seattle's The Dreaming.
I miss that store and its secret door to the bathroom hidden behind the Pathfinder shelf.

#SeptembeRPG: "A game you always return to".
I don't know if I've been gaming long enough to really answer this! But over the last few years, I've consistently circled back to a few favourites: Monsterhearts, Good Society and Hearts of Wulin. I can see 2400 joining this list for its incredible simplicity and depth.

11. A game you love but really needs a new edition
I'm gonna Cheat. I remember Karameikos well from my BECMI games in the early 90s. Specifically the "King's Festival" and "Queen's Harvest" modules.
The whole story of Karameikos is a story of colonialism and multi-level oppression. Borderland territories of the Theatian Empire, where "wild" native people (the Traladars) live. 1/
#SeptembeRPG Day 11: A game you love but really needs a new edition
OK, here's my personal hot take: Heckin' Good Doggos. Yes, I know it's very recent and I ran a campaign of it for a year, but the game system is, if you'll forgive me, a dog. Quite aside from dice and card components not lining up, the basic mechanics have a lot of overlap for some rolls (Sensing, Investigating and Sniffing) with not enough examples of play to illustrate how and when to use them. 🧵 #ttrpg

11. A #TTRPG you love but really needs a new edition
I would like to say the #ScarredLands
Yeah, it's more a setting than an RPG, I know. But it's the setting I discovered D&D with. And there's some stuff in this setting I'm still "in love" with.
The setting got revamped for DD5, but, well...
What I would like is to see micro-games for this setting. Each dedicated to tiny bit I really liked about it. All making a great mash-up (oops, that was yesterday...)
Anyway, just a wish

11. A #TTRPG you love but really needs a new edition
In #MagistratsEtManigances we play a Tang dynasty Magistrate and his assistants investigating crime and maintaining the peace of a district. With deep thinking about improvising intertwined investigations à la Juge Dee or Juge Bao.
Back in 2016, @Rdhuissier and Benjamin Macbeth Kouppi published it in 3 parts in a magazine. It is high time that it gets a standalone revised edition, and why not an English translation. #LeTTRPG

#septembeRPG day 10:
A mashup of games you did or you're thinking of doing.
I did my first ever mash-up over the first six months of 2023! It was Monster Squad, a timeline of monster-related games that spanned hundreds of years. (1/4)
#SeptembeRPG
10. A mashup of games you did or you're thinking of doing.
I didn't. But there are two things on my mind.
First, a #Fiasco trilogy with a selection of playset, and recurring stuff between the games. It's something I want to try once.
Then, it's a recurring universe. A shared universe. For myself, through various Solo Games. It's something I already started to put in place. Just need to get the right solo games for it.
#SeptembeRPG Day 10: A mash-up of games you did or you're thinking of doing. I've been appreciating someone's conversion of #arsmagica into a Forged in the Dark game and looking forward to taking it out for a spin some day. #fitd #forgedinthedark
#septemberpg #arsmagica #fitd #forgedinthedark
After a year of play and many shenanigans and politics in the fortress and its surroundings, we finished the campaign with a long game of Kingdom (also by Ben Robbins)... and doomed the fortress to failure and ruin!
It was a great campaign!
You may have noticed I haven't posted for a few day. Had a few rough ones. Take care. Don't let games, even as nice as #SeptembeRPG, cost you more than you can handle!
