the great irony of the L-Taraval rail revamp is that for what it will cost, we could probably run L-Taraval shuttle busses from the Zoo to West Portal station on a fairly regular schedule in perpetuity.
because what the construction is doing is actually disrupting that bus schedule: it used to come every 6 minutes, now comes every 10 *at best*. not to mention the moved bus stops, the noise, the dirt and having to walk 3 blocks out of your way to cross the street, which is no joke for many people given the elevation changes on some of these blocks.
while the bus is running less frequently, you also can't bike (because the street is destroyed) and you can't even drive really, if that's your thing.
and you might say: "Enia, stop whining! how long is this disruption lasting for, really? a couple of days."
No, no: to do just the 3(!) blocks closest to my home, the contractors have alotted 2 *months*. I feel like China could build a whole new high speed rail line in that time.

Iām finally back in the bay!
Iām gonna miss the parisian #transportation system and the amazing bike lanes Anne Hidalgo put in place.
Looking forward to being involved with #valencia4thepeople and #SFtransit people to bring some of those ideas here.
