When Carlota is of marriageable age, their landlord's handsome young son arrives with a group of cronies in pursuit of a rumored Indian raiding party, and Carlota immediately catches his eye. I have read 2 novellas and 8 novels by #SilviaMorenoGarcia and have thoroughly enjoyed each one. Not sure any other current writer is as much of a hit for me.

Her pacing is fantastic, her characterization is great, and her dialog is realistic without either meandering or feeling Marvel quippy.

Just thought I'd share with you all how my month is shaping up. I still have a few more days left in Jan so I'll be adding a couple more; here's my list of books I've read so far. I listen to the audiobooks at 2-2.5x and read the books at same time. It helps me understand the story I'm reading and my brain retains much more than just reading it.

This book was wildly good. Silvia has a way of pulling me into each of her books and I am under her spell. This one will be a non stop read for a lot of people and now I am thinking about all the connections with the film industry and the occult. Thank you lol.
