Anyways I’m starting SUPER deep work into the SPC700 engine code for Super Mario Kart, starting with a fully assembled binary dump from the game, with no extra information, and I’m going to end up with a fully functional re-assembleable disassembly and make major modifications to it to expand the sound capabilities for #SMKDX.

Best part? If I do my job correctly, to 99.9% of people, you will have zero clue that I even touched the SPC whatsoever! :D

Anyway here's some info on the Spooky Speedster boss!

This speed demon doesn't take kindly to just "racing fast", get too far ahead and he'll warp right behind you and overtake you! (pros be warned!)

As a Boo, he also has a tendency to steal your items, so use it or LOSE it!

Oh and just to make sure you know he's a better racer, once he's ahead of you he'll likely show off and taunt you! Don't lose hope though, you can still beat him!

But good luck trying to hit him while he goes ghost mode hehehe

It really is a shame that only one Mario Kart entry has a mission mode... But not for long!

In Mission Mode in Super Mario Kart Deluxe, you'll be able to tackle your way through 81 custom missions ranging from One-on-One Races with the CPU, Stealing Shine Sprites in Battles, Bonking some pesky Moles, to so SO much more! Get some training in and hone those skills!

Don't forget the crew chiefs are monitoring your performance, so make 'em proud and 3-star every mission!

WHEW! getting back into more work for #SMKDX, needed to write up an entirely new method of a certain core feature, and spent the last two days writing it all up.

Just casual occurrences while working on #SMKDX :
“Cool, I’ve fixed the issue with the track in Fiery Volcano not sinking/resetting properly when playing in 2-Player Grand Prix… And now the game sometimes randomly loads the boot-up NINTENDO screen and crashes when throwing an egg in Shine Thief mode.”

I have been hard at work in the background for a while building a system for #SMKDX that will be controlling something pretty neat! I can't say exactly what it is that I am doing, as that is a secret that will be divulged later once we are much further down the line in the project.

I am currently co-leading a massive project to make an expansion mod for SMK (called Super Mario Kart Deluxe [or #SMKDX]), and I also have a focus on development tool creation and data visualization for SMK. I also am creating a series of videos cheekily named "Under the Hood" where I discuss the inner working of SMK keeping in mind various levels of expertise on the subject.
