Spinning Peacock (Corriedale x nylon) and combining with black Jacob top = my very first wheel spun 2 ply! The Jacob has been the most enjoyable to spin with so far.

I've inherited this spinning wheel, which I think is an Orkney wheel. It needs some restoration, but if anyone reading this has any hints/tips/advice on starting my spinning journey I'd be much obliged.
The wheel is broad compared to most wheels I've seen online and I would love to know why.

Meet my Little Grace #SpinningWheel.
She is a beautiful little wheel. But she is special to me because she belonged to my Mum. I remember watching her spin as a child.
She died 6 years ago, but she feels closer when I am at her wheel. And I have fallen in love with this craft too.
& Something I've learned is to follow what you love and you will find joy in what you make.
And so Little Grace Yarn was born.

I've had a bit of a #longcovid crash this week, which meant being unable to do much. But I find I can still #spin or #knit as it doesn't require me to stand. It's so good for my state of mind to be able to do something and I think spinning is soothing for my #nervoussystem.

Back at the wheel! I've been spindle spinning lots lately, but tonight I just had to break into this delicious Fossil Fibers batt! First I z-split the batt to get one long gradient from purple to orange. I have a massive cone of mohair boucle, and I'm using that as a core for this yarn. I'm not very good at corespinning, lol. But it's passable, and I'm more of a process spinner than a technical one. Spinny thing makes brain go brrrr, y'know?

Looking back over this past year, one of the things I am most proud of is all I have learned about #spinning and #knitting and all the things I have #created.
Here is the most recent pile of hats. All hand spun then knitted as gifts for loved ones.
Funny to think, this time last year I had just got my Mother's #spinningwheel from my Dad and was tentatively trying it out for the first time.
