Happy new year! My 2022 ended up being impossibly busy, but I managed to write three new songs in December. One was a Song Fight! entry, and I'm planning to debut the other two at my favorite open mic tomorrow night. @orangegmusic offered to play some harmonica on one of them, so I think it'll be a great performance!

I recorded video of a friend's performance at last night's #StarliteWednesdayOpenMic on my phone. I held the phone sideways, but for some reason Google Photos processed the video in portrait orientation.

Did you know that the Google Photos app has a feature that can rotate the orientation of a video, but that feature isn't accessible from the web app on a desktop?

This year, I've spent a lot of time transcribing songs for performance. Either listening to other peoples' original songs so I can cover them, or my own songs for other people to learn (or somtimes - let's face it - for me to RE-learn my own material).

I'm excited for tonight's #StarliteWednesdayOpenMic because I'm planning a cover that has been easily the most difficult song to transcribe I've ever worked on.

The Wednesday before Halloween, I played a special set at my favorite open mic (#StarliteWednesdayOpenMic). A friend recorded me, including the short introductory monologue I wrote and performed (which doubled as the reveal/explanation of my costume).
