Attempting to watch #Foundation again, but I'm still struggling.
It's a strange and irritating quirk that in an attempt to modernise an old(ish) book, the writers retreated so much into the past (mysticism and religion)
The contrast with something like #StationEleven is stark. Both have pretentions to be *about stuff* but only Foundation feels pretentious IMO (the Trantor thread anyway - Terminus is mostly silly space/action).
Attempts to change my perspective are welcome - I want to enjoy it!

@jupitersigh This is what I'm hoping to get more of.

As others have noted, #StationEleven is this kind of story and, so far in my viewing, #Silo is as well.

The 24/7 kill or be killed genre is lazy, boring, and puts me on edge, which is the opposite of entertaining, or emotionally or intellectually compelling, for me.

3 years into COVID and I finally summoned the fortitude to watch the #StationEleven adaptation.

I read the book in December 2019, when COVID was in the headlines but not yet completely terrifying.

I expected to be triggered by the show, but I found it amazingly healing and cathartic. What a beautiful piece of art. I'm not one for merch and I don't have tattoos, but I feel a deep yearning to keep a piece of the world with me in some tangible, permanent way.

#StationEleven is really good ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The erratic flashbacks and zero context episode really annoyed me. I get why they are there but it would have been better told using a helix structure (google it).

I’m watching #StationEleven and it’s losing me at this no context flashback episode, like can writers please move on from this trope? I get little flashbacks but a whole episode where I’m like “so what?” the whole time I just tune out

E #StationEleven acabou bem. Série gostosinha, só uma temporada e foi suficiente pra contar a história.

Dizem que o livro não é tão bom quanto a adaptação, o que chega a ser engraçado, mas até faz sentido..

#StationEleven é massa demais. Tem a mesma pegada que um outro trabalho do Patrick Somerville, a maravilhosa #TheLeftovers. Porém é uma temporada só, vou sentir falta quando acabar.

Outro trabalho do Somerville que eu nem tinha me ligado é #MadeForLove, que também gostei bem.

Essas 3 são HBO, então vale a pena pra quem já tem conta ou tá afim de gastar bem o período de testes rs

Comecei a ver #StationEleven na #HBOMax.
Estou a gostar, mas estava com maior expetativa. O mistério manda uns vibes de Leftovers e é o que tenho gostado mais. Mas o arco principal não me tem cativado. Não me interessa muito saber do que se passa com aquele grupo de teatro ambulante shakespeariano. O melhor episódio até agora foi o terceiro que conta a história da Miranda.

Just finished a book club meeting talking about #EmilyStJohnMandel’s #SeaOfTranquility (my one line review - she’s going to kick herself when she finally gets around to reading Heinlein and Dick). Had her habit of recycling characters pointed out and realise I probably ought to dig out that copy of #StationEleven I’ve got lying around and get around to actually reading it.
