Hey hive mind - any interesting STS communities in or near(ish) Münster? I don't have a great overview of the German scene, but planning a trip in the fall. Who should I look up / try to visit? Special interests in scientific representation, visualization, images as evidence, artistic research, valuation, etc etc etc... #STShubDe @sts #STS
Oh no, I should have handed in a talk, too. I just realized that the #STShubDe reader contains only one (!) mention of 'hackathon'. Where have all my fellow hackathon researchers gone? We must not leave all the fun to HCI ;)
So... next time, ok? :D
Thank you #SusannWagenknecht for this excellent theoretical exploration of our conference theme "circulation" at #STShubDe - and for reminding us that not everything circulates and that we should focus on leakages. Super inspiring! 👏
Many thanks to all presenters and audiencers of our panel "infrastructure and materiality"! It has been my first time chairing a panel and you made it an enjoyable and delightful experience <3
It has been a delight, full of insights about the value of theory devices and concepts for social innovation, visibilities via and despite infrastructure, material resistance, and how these are media of scope and obversation, whether you research gynecology or smart homes.
I have deepened my sensitivity towards agency in practice networks, their contribution toward ontology and bodyfication in medicine, how smart devices create new behaviour, routines, and redistribute roles and power within and beyond oikos. Last but not least, I will watch closely at nexus of social practice, infrastructures, how not just commuting changes by preferences of view, ecology, and comfort, but those preferences themselves - like the role of light for commuters, npw that virtually all use smartphones.
Such inspiration.
Siting and listening in room S05 at #STShubDe in Aachen for the explorative panel on STS and the arts – it'll continue tomorrow morning, including a talk from me about artificial and artistic intelligences. Come by if you're around.
Lovely to listen to Koumar Koushik's talk struggling against malestreaming and male writing. Does Latour escape malestreamed writing? Maybe. Maybe he is too laden with heroism and attributes involved with such. But apparently it still inspires to breach out of those grammatic, syntactic and paradigmatic boundaries. But maybe those are already without the powers of female writing - as imagined and suggested by H #Cixous.
However. While discipline and objectivism has its proven efforts, we should be much more sceptic about the techniques of reasoning, communicating, and comprehending we apply. I agree, let's get more sensitive about the lack of empathy and intrinsic incomprehensibility of durée as well as pragmatic relation and extent. #STShubDe #feministSTS

Fun talk by Janine Hagemeister. Should we read more classics? Are we forgetting about Adorno, even Weizenbaum? Hopefully not.
Following yesterday's keynote: why not enjoy some more friction between critical STS and STS of critique? Armchair revolution and blunt intervention. Challenge Heidegger's bleak romanticism. Ultimately, read some Husserl and wonder about our beliefs in scientific concepts. Read some Bergson and scrutinize ChatGPT in time traveling thought experiments, accuse your ethnographic mappings for their intellectual spatialization.
Returning to the original talk: why don't you lock up scientists and increase pressure until they fuse into a diamonf of interdisciplinsary sublimity ;)
Ah, metaphors, such odd devices.

at #STShubDE in the session on Environmental #STS. Interesting discussion on long and short-term circulation. Aren't negative emissions (#CDR) also circular on the long run? (Closing circles of extraction or storage leackages)

Pleased to be at the #STShubDe conference to present a paper in the 'environmental STS' panel. Congratulations to organizers for wonderful preparation of the event.
Day 2 of #STSHubDe is starting with an online faculty board meeting, possible due to the excellent conference wifi.
What a delightful first day of #STShubDe this has been! So nice to see, meet and talk to everyone. What an event. A reflexive keynote on being an academic in, well, academia. An escapist catering and reception - for free - extra thanks and kudos to the organizers!
Just be sure to not miss out on tomorrow's highlight panel at 3 p.m. in S06: Infrastructure & Materiality ;D We have all the talks you love on: social innovation, smart homes, sustainability, gynecological chairs, and, of course, infrastructure (& materiality)!
Looking forward to seeing you!
However you plan your day at the conference, have a fun, insightful and networky time. Good night! :)
Rene v. Schomberg just pulled the joke: "Universities are like graveyards. It is very difficult to engage with its inhabitants." - I hope he is wrong or at least transfer strategies change that. #STShubDe
I believe in #DeutscheBahn. Still, I'll miss the #STShubDe opening due to... (》Screenshot). Looking forward to the rest of the program and colleagues in Aachen! 😀
@SuzetteKahlert and me are on our way to #STShubDe . Juchhe! Looking forward to seeing you and coming together for the autopoiesis of German #STS ;)
