This is "old news" now but I just recently watched James Cameron's film "Deep Sea Challenge 3D" which documents the lengths to which Cameron went to design a "bullet proof' submersible and the care and technology that he brought to bear in the construction of his submersible.
What Cameron did is in starkt contrast w/the the casual & lacksidasical manner in which Stockton Rush apparently designed & built his, as was reported by David Pogue who took a trip in Rush's "OceanGate" fortunately before it imploded while attempting a descent to the Titanic.
If you're still curious about what Rush "might" have done wrong, you should take the time to watch Cameron's documentary and Pogue's segment on CBS Sunday Morning about his interview w/Rush and his experience in OceanGate.

"The maritime industry has a saying that all rules and regulations are written in blood. I hate to say it, but it’s true. Everybody knew the #Titanic didn’t have enough lifeboats, but nobody foresaw the possibility that it could sink in less than two hours and that there wouldn’t be a rescue craft close by. This case with #Titan, I’m shocked by the historical irony of this endeavor" - Sal Mercogliano,

Many of us who work in #Oceanography and #MarineScience know the dangers associated with deep-water #submersibles. Oceanic pressure at these depths where the #titanic sits is almost 400 atmospheres.
Hoping against the odds that the crew can be rescued.
