Loving the Seamus Heaney tributes through prose this morning on #RTERadio #SundayMiscellany
Sounds like he was such a lovely person; so supportive of other #writers.

It was particularly interesting to listen to the recent episode of #SundayMiscellany that contained a piece from the 1st episode, back in 1968, and other pieces from the 60s and 70s. The later ones were probably a year or two before I started to listen to the show.
I usually listen to it as a podcast these days, which means that I don't get the same musical interludes as the "live" broadcast.
@kat I don’t listen to radio much now but there is definitely something about the #synchronicity of it - especially for night and early morning radio - #NightOwls 🦉 & #Larks
The one radio I listen live is #SundayMiscellany on #RTÉ on Sunday am - it’s pre-recorded, but the synchronicity with other listeners, who’ve listened since childhood like me, is magical
Enjoy you day ☀️

When he was 4 (in 1749) Henry Edgeworth's father gave up his living (he was a rector) because he had converted to Catholicism. The family moved to France. While training as a priest Henry became friends with Francis Moylan, later Catholic Bishop of Cork.
His memoirs and (in English) some letters to Moylan and an account of his time with #Louis XVI before execution. https://books.google.ie/books?id=zkkuAAAAMAAJ&printsec=frontcover&source=gbs_ge_summary_r&cad=0#v=onepage&q&f=false

Got to say: listening to RTE Radio 1 is a good way to start a Sunday morning. #RTEradio1 #SundayMiscellany
Just got a chance to listen to the podcast of this week's Sunday Miscellany, containing clips from the very first program in 1968 (!!) including a story by Patrick Kavanagh, and other clips from programs in the 1970's.
They hold up well!

Great piece on Irish soldier Myles Keogh on #sundaymiscellany this morning.
Fighting in the armies of the Papal States, before joining and rising through the ranks of the Union army during the American civil war, his romantic entanglement with General Custer’s wife, and his final battle at infamous Battle of Little Bighorn.
Well worth a listen, only 5 minutes:
