I wrote a new #Blogpost to put down some of my ideas. Came across an interesting point by the polyglot intellectual Syed Mujtaba Ali about compound phrasing in Bangla and its parallel to English compound phrasing.

Basically argues that both features emerged because the people had to speak to the foreign rulers and themselves simultaneously:
